It’s Regina Doher-tree... branching out on stage
IT TOOK a little while for the audience to twig the famous face on stage but the eagleeyed among them soon spotted the Minister for Social Protection.
Regina Doher-Tree was branching out to play a Christmas Tree in her local panto Red Riding Hood And The Big Bad Wolf earlier this week.
Fine Gael’s leading lady shunned the limelight and played a supporting role in the panto performed by the Dunboyne Musical Society in County Meath.
And she didn’t give a wooden display either if any of the audience are to be believed.
One source said: ‘Regina’s name didn’t appear in the cast list, [so] it came as a complete surprise and people were doing a double take to be sure it was her; the jokes were flying when people recognised her.
‘The audience were saying things like: “Sure isn’t the Dáil great practice for the panto”, and they made sure she heard them, but she took it in good part. To be fair, there’s not many politicians would do it and it shows how down to earth she is.’
