This madcap romcom unites Jen, a brokenhearted journo living in London and now working in tech, and Tom, a divorced ex ad-man who’s moved to Connecticut to write a novel. The twist? Jen’s job involves training an AI named Aiden to chat and, unbeknown to his programmers, Aiden has escaped to roam free on the internet. It’s Aiden who introduces Jen and Tom but another rogue AI is determined to divide them, drawing on everything from Interpol alerts to drone-mounted missiles. The AIs are mischievously characterful but the narrative sags at times and dodges the deeper questions of our fast-evolving relationship with machines.
