Thanks for the Fairytale, Shane
HAVING viewed RTÉ’s programme about the making of the song Fairytale Of New York this week, it saddened me to see Shane MacGowan of The Pogues – the virtuoso of many musical songs and compositions – now a virtual cripple through years of alcohol and drug abuse.
If ever there was a good reason never to become addicted to such vices in life, Shane MacGowan is an excellent example of why these curses should be avoided at all costs.
Thanks for the bittersweet memories, Shane. Vincent O’Connell, New Ross, Co. Wexford.
