THE Irish Mail on Sunday wishes all of our readers a Happy New Year. Our newyear promise to you is to continue to do what we did throughout an award-winning 2017. We promise to chase stories that matter, and are of interest to you.
We will champion stories that other news outlets ignore, and break stories that other news outlets miss.
We will report without fear or favour and we will dig, without always knowing what we are digging for.
We will investigate stories that take time, and delight in being told by people with vested interests that there is ‘no story here’. And then publish the story, quoting those same people.
We will hold this Government, and the next, to account for their actions and inactions as the country deals with crises in housing, homelessness, and health among others. We will resist any attempt to allow spin replace substance.
We will keep asking impertinent questions, knowing you, our readers glean more from the authorities’ disrespectful silences, than they manage to hide.
And we’ll still find time to have a little fun. Because we know you, our readers, expect nothing less.
