Let New Year be a time of renewal

This time of year offers us an opportunity for reflection as we reminisce about the year just past, and look forward to the year ahead. If we see things in our lives that we are unhappy with, we may be able to actualise the changes we’d like to make. So this time of year brings a heightened awareness of how we feel about our lives. Many years ago, when I was a 16-year-old schoolboy, a fellow classmate suddenly exclaimed: ‘You learn something new every day!’ Almost 40 years on, I hope he still feels the same way! New Year is a time of renewal. We need to keep our minds active, open to change and continue on the path of continuous learning in all aspects of life. We are alive, and while there’s life, there is hope.
