BIRMINGHAM 1 BURTON 0

-

BIRMINGHAM recorded a third successive win and put Burton Albion out.

Sam Gallagher’s 57th-minute strike put Birmingham in the fourth round but Burton can feel aggrieved at the defeat.

The only goal stemmed from former Burton winger Jacques Maghoma who cut in and pulled back for Gallagher to ram home into the roof of the net.

Birmingham boss Steve Cotterill paid credit to the Southampton loanee, saying: ‘We have instilled in him that he needs to be more aggressive and I think he has recently added this to his game.

Burton counterpart Nigel Clough rued: ‘I thought we were very wasteful in the final third.’
