CTTV on motorways
RURAL crime, particularly burglary, has been exacerbated by the extension of our motorway network, allowing big city gangs, acting on local information, to target isolated properties where money, machinery and valuables are stolen. In Britain, motorway cameras have proved a great help in identifying the vehicles used in these raids and in bringing the culprits to justice. Here, only the M50 has a significant camera presence.
Extending it to the entire network, especially the junctions, must be a priority in the fight against rural crime.
