EVER wonder why the economy is booming but you don’t feel any richer?

The answer won’t restore faith in the economics forecaster­s that failed to alert us to the crash of 2008.

It’s apparently because the economy may be growing but it is being outstrippe­d by population growth, which leaves us, on average, worse off.

Consumer spending and income is higher than the 2008 peak but per person the totals are actually lower, KBC economist Austin Hughes revealed in a new report.

Surely the economic boffins could have told us that before, instead of endlessy trotting out figures that suggest to us that we’re rich – when clearly we’re not.
