SF MP should step down over cruel Kingsmill stunt

-

I cannot believe Northern Irish MP Barry McElduff has not been evicted from Sinn Féin. And that Mary Lou McDonald deems it okay to suspend this man on full pay for three months. What type of sanction is this?

I have seen the video of him with the pan of Kingsmill on his head posted on the 42nd anniversary of the massacre of 10 Protestant workers coming home from work being lined up and shot dead by the IRA, near Kingsmills in South Armagh on January 5, 1976.

This man thought it funny to taunt people on such an anniversary. It was a callous and cruel act. BarryMcElduff says he didn’t know it was the anniversary and would not want to hurt anyone involved. Why put this post on Twitter so?

He has damaged the peace process. He is not fit to represent the people. He should step down from his Westminster seat and be evicted from Sinn Féin.

Anne Boylan, Artane, Dublin 5. …The ad hominem attacks by political and media opponents against Sinn Féin putative leader Mary Lou McDonald over Barry McElduff ’s grossly offensive behaviour regarding the Kingsmills massacre is a cynical exploitation of these murders.

These strident attacks on Ms McDonald by political opponents of Sinn Féin are bitter and incorrigible attacks on democracy.

There appears to be a steely determination by opponents of Sinn Féin in Dáil Éireann and the national press to form a consensus to create a political atmosphere where SF is rendered politically impotent.

One is left with the impression that the Kingsmills atrocity is being played out for its full political value. Tom Cooper, Templeogue, Dublin 6W.
