Outrageous time to take a pay rise
A quote that’s attributed to many great people and that still holds today is: All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
I would describe it as evil for our TDs to accept an increase in their remuneration when young parents struggle to put shoes on the feet of their little children as they return to school after Christmas.
I am a senior citizen who had a good job as a clerical officer in Bórd na Mona from 1968 to 1975. I also did many years of substitute primary teaching, which I loved.
However, there came a day when I went to our local supermarket and packed bags in order to pay my ESB bill. I cannot abide greed. Those vultures should be shamed into cancelling any pay rise.
