-

LEGENDARY French chef Paul Bocuse – a pioneer of nouvelle cuisine – has died aged 91.

Known as ‘the pope of French cuisine’, larger-than-life Mr Bocuse, above, was one of the first celebrity chefs.

French President Emmanuel Macron was among those who paid tribute to him last night.

Mr Bocuse, whose Lyons restaurant has held three Michelin stars since 1965, had undergone a triple heart bypass in 2005, and he also suffered from Parkinson’s disease.

Minister Gerard Collomb tweeted that ‘Mister Paul was France. Simplicity and generosity. Excellence and art de vivre’.
