Foxes heap misery on the Hornets

- – LAURIE WHITWELL

IT was November when Watford sent Everton a cease and desist letter over manager Marco Silva but while the approaches stopped so too have the results.

In 11 games since that awkward period for the club, Watford have collected only five points and in their latest outing were well beaten at the King Power Stadium. Keep this up and Silva will be overseeing a battle for survival soon enough.

By contrast Leicester have hit a rich vein of form, collecting 20 points in the same stretch to overtake Burnley in seventh.

With Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy– who opened the scoring from the spot – back to their best a place in the Europa League is on.

In added time, Mahrez provided the moment to make the score reflect Leicester’s superiority. Receiving the ball from Adrian Silva, he sped into the area and cut a pinpoint finish into the net.

Claude Puel said: ‘The result was a fantastic reward for the squad because today was a tough game. Watford are strong, they battle well.’
