Battling the weighing scale can be ‘torture’

-

RUBY Walsh is hungry to ride winners again, but not for breakfast. ‘Eating is only a habit,’ he insists.

‘I only eat in two six-hour windows, lunch and dinner. That’s how I maintain my weight,’ explained the leading Irish jump jockey.

‘2003 was the last time I let myself go, I went to the jumps Breeders Cup, then to Santa Anita in California, then to Australia for the Rugby World Cup, Melbourne Cup, and the Aussie Rules was on too.

‘Trying to lose that weight, while it was only eight pounds, was torture,’ he recalled.

At 10 stone even on the scales on Friday morning, the returning Walsh will soon be punching above his weight again.
