Wagner will act over Billing and Van La Parra ‘mistakes’

-

DAVID WAGNER will speak to Philip Billing and Rajiv Van La Parra after the Huddersfield pair were involved in controversy at Old Trafford.

Billing was taken off in the 33rd minute. He had been booked and, after several heavy tackles, Huddersfield’s manager was worried that the midfielder would be sent off so replaced him with Aaron Mooy.

Van La Parra, meanwhile, enraged Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho when he leapt up to chase a ball, having intimated he was injured while lying on the pitch. It prompted Mourinho to wave an imaginary yellow card at the referee.

‘This was not something we like to see,’ Wagner said when asked about his players’ actions. ‘But they have not made a big mistake. This is not something we should make too big but, yes, I will speak to them.’ Huddersfield have lost all their Premier League games in 2018 and have dropped into the relegation zone but Wagner said: ‘I don’t like that we are in the bottom three but to be totally honest it makes us easier. We can chase the other teams. We don’t have to look over our shoulders. We have to fight to survive.’
