Paloma: My child’s gender is my secret

- By Robert Cox

FAMOUS for her avant-garde style and outspoken views, singer Paloma Faith has always been far from conventional.

And now, it seems, the eccentric 36-year-old pop star – who had her first child in December 2016 – is taking a very modern approach to parenting.

In an exclusive interview in today’s You magazine, she reveals why she refuses to reveal her child’s name – or its gender. On her parenting philosophy, she explains: ‘I won’t say whether I have a boy or a girl for privacy reasons.

‘I want my child to go to normal schools and integrate with kids from different backgrounds as a human being, not as a child of a celebrity.’

And of her gender-neutral stance, she says: ‘I’m not in denial of gender but I have absolutely no problem if my child grows up not feeling an affinity with the gender they were born with.

‘It’s important to me they’re given all the opportunities to be the person they want to be.’

Paloma also touches on recent sexual harassment scandals, saying: ‘It’s good it’s come to the surface.

‘A bloke once tried to attack me on the street and I walloped him over the head with a massive bag!’
