A CLEVERLY crafted quote – ‘Horslips stood for a hopeful, outward-looking, inclusive vision of Ireland with plenty to drink and a blue Range Rover’ – was tossed at the ‘saddos’ who lifted one of the band’s songs for the Irexit conference in Dublin last weekend. Back in the 1970s their conspicuou­s consummati­on with rigorous quality control was an integral component of Horslips’ immodest mission statement: ‘Not so much Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, more those bollixes in Horslips.’
