WE’RE BACK!
Three years after Gorse Hill, check out the O’Donnell family’s new place
THE O’Donnell family, who lost their multimillion euro Gorse Hill home to bankruptcy, are back in Killiney.
It has emerged that they are behind the purchase of a nearby €1.85m Victorian mansion.
Retired solicitor Mr O’Donnell has been spotted at Laragh House on Killiney Avenue and the Irish Times this week reported that they moved their belongings in last September. The family are understood to have undertaken extensive renovations to the house prior to moving in.
The O’Donnells went into bankruptcy in 2013 having amassed debts of €71m, and officially exited bankruptcy in August 2017. Laragh House is near their former home on Vico Road and boasts a similarly lavish interior and surroundings. However, at €1.85m, its price is some way shy of the €9.5m paid to Bank of Ireland for Gorse Hill in 2017.
Gorse Hill hit the headlines when the O’Donnells engaged in a long battle against eviction.
They left in 2015, with Brian O’Donnell dropping the keys in front of Bank of Ireland boss Richie Boucher at the bank AGM.
