Walsh anger at ‘rubbish’ drag act pick

A ROW has broken out between two Ireland’s Got Talent judges over a mistake which led to a Donegal drag queen going through to the semi-finals.

Comedian Jason Byrne pressed his Golden Buzzer by mistake, allowing the act, farmer Martin McGuinness, to sail through to the next round. All three of the other judges pressed their red buzzers in a display of disappointment at the quality of the act.

Under pressure to bring the audition to a close, Jason Byrne misplaced his foot on the buzzer, giving the contestant a golden ticket through. Byrne laughed it off, but fellow judge Louis Walsh did not see the funny side and believes Jason’s future on the show could be in jeopardy as a result.

‘Jason really messed up on this show,’ Louis Walsh told the Irish Mail on Sunday. ‘He hit the Golden Buzzer by mistake and while he thought it was funny he robbed someone else of a real shot at the semi-final. He gave this drag queen from Donegal, who is rubbish, a chance. It is a waste and I don’t know if he will even be back next year because of this. It is such a waste.’

Louis is just back in Ireland after a four-week holiday in Miami.
