- By Chris Hastings

EMMA CHAMBERS, star of The Vicar Of Dibley and Notting Hill, has died aged just 53. It happened on Wednesday but her death from natural causes was only announced yesterday.

As news spread, social media was awash with tributes from former colleagues and fans.

Emma Freud, the partner of Richard Curtis who wrote both The Vicar Of Dibley and Notting Hill, described her as a ‘sweet, funny, unusual and loving human being’. She added: ‘Our beautiful friend has died at the age of 53. We’re very, very sad. She was a great, great comedy performer and a truly fine actress.’

Dawn French has paid tribute to her former Vicar Of Dibley co-star. She said: ‘Emma was a very bright spark and the most loyal and loving friend anyone could wish for.

‘I will miss her very much.’ Chambers was married to fellow actor Ian Dunn.
