O’Reilly talks up Nemo’s historic haul
NEMO RANGERS 2-19 SLAUGHTNEIL 1-14
NEMO RANGERS captain Aidan O’Reilly has admitted his side are chasing All-Ireland club history after reaching another final.
Luke Connolly’s 2-5 haul in Portlaoise powered the seven-time champions through to the March 17 final alongside Corofin.
They required extra-time after finishing 1-12 apiece after the hour.
But there was only one team in it during the additional 20 minutes with Nemo outscoring the back to back Ulster champions by 0-7 to no score in the first period.
Connolly then scored his second goal at the death to seal a flattering eight-point win for the Trabeg outfit who will chase a record eighth All-Ireland win next month.
‘Many men in our club have lifted All-Ireland trophies over the years and we want to have our name up there with them,’ said O’Reilly who starred alongside 39-year-old Kerry icon Tomas ó Sé in defence. ‘It would be fantastic for us to create a bit of history for the club.’
