The fans want Arsene out

- ARSENAL SUPPORTERS’ TRUST BOARD MEMBER By Tim Payton

IT has been a depressing week for Arsenal supporters. Twice we have sat and watched our side taken apart by the country’s best team, Manchester City.

Even a cup final at Wembley wasn’t enough for our faltering squad to raise their game and in the Premier League at home last Thursday it was like watching men against boys.

It used to be Arsenal that played the scintillating football and could boast the best coach from overseas.

Now we watch as the performances decline and fans of other clubs have the best imports in the dugout in the form of Guardiola, Pochettino and Klopp.

How did this happen? My view is two key events. The first is the club falling into the hands of an overseas owner, Stan Kroenke, who views it primarily as an entertainment franchise.

The second is a manager who has failed to adapt to changing pressures.

It is clear from the many fans I talk to that change is overwhelmingly desired. Now the Arsenal board need to get out of their comfort zone and make the call that Wenger has to go. Tim Payton is writing in a personal capacity
