15,000 march for Eighth Amendment
More than 15,000 people turned out for a rally to retain the right to life of the unborn yesterday.
Groups opposing proposed changes to the eighth Amendment of the Constitution, which would allow for abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy, marched on Merrion Square in Dublin. While many opposed abortion outright, some focused on the rights of people with disabilities, and spokeswoman Niamh Ní Bhriain claimed the proposed law would make Irish legislation even more liberal than Britain.
