Leadership of Ulster rugby ‘deeply religious’

-

THE leadership of Ulster rugby are deeply religious and are referred to locally as ‘the Saved’. Many of them are Born Again Christians, and it is believed that at least half of the sporting body are evangelists.

One informed source revealed: ‘Before each training session there is a prayer, and after training there is prayer, and prayers are said at every meeting.

‘There is a lot of concern about sponsors, and membership, in connection with what was revealed in the trial.’

Another added: ‘There’s a lot of Free Presbyterian support for Ulster Rugby and you don’t get more extreme on this island.

‘And the reaction from them is more vitriolic than the reaction from rugby supporters in the south.’
