FG failing homeless
IT IS astonishing that only now has the Taoiseach decided that homelessness is a national emergency. Fine Gael-led governments, over the past seven years, have missed every deadline they set, failed to deliver on every promise and offered no credible plan – not only for the long term but for the immediate answers families in crisis need. Housing, no more or less than equality, is one of the main civil-rights issues of our times. Too little is being done, when a muscular, coherent strategy is the very least we require.
