Harmon backs Rory to make history

- By Derek Lawrenson

BUTCH HARMON makes Rory McIlroy the favourite to complete the career Grand Slam this week, while Paul McGinley believes that McIlroy is ‘on form and on the edge of history’.

Harmon coaches world No1 Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler but that did not stop him believing this will be McIlroy’s week. ‘My money would be on him,’ Harmon said. ‘He is playing much better now. He always drives the ball beautifully but now he has sorted his putter out, that now makes him the man to beat.’

Harmon’s fellow Sky Sports commentator McGinley believes the key for McIlroy will be to harness his naturally aggressive instincts. ‘Rory needs to be patient and attack at the right time,’ McGinley said.

‘We all know what happens when he gets in contention, and he gave a reminder to everyone with his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational recently.’
