RTE reviews Late Late dog tale

AN interview with Cork comic Maeve Higgins on last week’s Late Late Show has led to a slew of complaints and an internal review.

The slot which saw Maeve, 37, admit to buying a fake service jacket for her dog to get a free transatlantic flight for the pooch was cleared to air by producers, as the chat was pre-recorded.

RTÉ’s press office told the MoS they had received complaints, saying: ‘RTÉ has received a range of correspondence on the item which is currently being reviewed.’ David McCarthy, of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, said: ‘It is important for people who use working dogs to know both their rights and responsibilities when it comes to access and transport. Anything that could jeopardise these access rights is not helpful.’
