This is the weigh to go

Nokia’s new smart scales are unforgiving, but their lack of mercy may be just the thing to force you to lose weight!

NOKIA BODY+ SCALES From €97 ★★★★★

INOW have an inkling of what it must be like to ascend the steps to the guillotine, after I fearfully took off my socks and stepped on to wi-fi ‘smart’ scales, which offer in-depth abuse far beyond a simple weight reading.

I half-expected them to say, as in the classic Garfield cartoon: ‘One at a time, please.’ Thankfully, they didn’t.

The Nokia Body+ scales connect to an app via wi-fi, so you can see graphs of your weight on your phone (as well as daily nags to stop putting off weighing yourself).

When you cave in and mount the device, you get a readout of not only how alarmingly vast you are, but also your body-fat percentage, water percentage and body-mass index (BMI).

The app explains what it all means. Your first go is a pretty brutal experience.

Oddly, it also gives a weather forecast, so you walk away knowing not only that you are absolutely huge, but that it’s going to pelt down with rain all day.

It’s mercilessly accurate, so if you eat a chicken drumstick, it’ll then show a reading of plus 0.2lb.

Eight family members can share the scales, identified by their weight, and with their own separate apps and IDs.

The Nokia Body+ is less chirpy and annoying than many fitness apps (yes, I’m talking about you, Fitbit), and offers tailored courses to help WEIGH TOO ACCURATE?: The Body+ scales is unforgiving

users lose weight over eight weeks.

So far, I seem to be gaining weight, rather than losing it, but I’m trying to stay positive.
