Connolly mystery deepens

-

HAVING missed most of Dublin’s League campaign, Diarmuid Connolly (right) was left out of St Vincent’s 30-man panel to play Raheny at Parnell Park yesterday. His absence comes after Jim Gavin last month came out to clarify that Connolly had merely been ‘rested’ for the League. Then, when asked if the forward would play any part for the All-Ireland champions this summer Gavin responded by saying: ‘Please God.’ Rumours of a switch to the Dublin hurlers were rubbished, and Connolly’s only action on the pitch this year came as he played just 26 minutes in Dublin’s win against Mayo at MacHale Park in February.
