Girl, 17, struck in hit and run

A SCHOOLGIRL was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was knocked down in a suspected hit and run in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 17-year-old, who is from Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, was taken to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital where her parents were maintaining a bedside vigil last night. Gardaí are investigating the incident which happened at 4am yesterday on Kilcoole’s Main Street. The road was closed for a period for an examination by gardaí but later reopened.
