It’s never too late to switch. In fact, the over-50s are often in the best position to do so if they’ve paid off much of their mortgage.

One 50-year-old couple were prime candidates for switching. They were with one of the dearest lenders (BoI) with a loan rate of 4.2% and a loan-to-value ratio of 75%.

AIB charged 2.95%, lopping €141 off their monthly repayments and saving €16,000 over 10 years. Handy money for a few hours of work.
