RORY McILROY will reemerge into public view next week – sort of. How much interaction he will have with the great unwashed is uncertain, but he will be in Limerick on Friday morning to play a fourball with Pádraig Harrington, Shane Lowry and Paul McGinley. McIlroy and his esteemed company will be guests of JP McManus at the launch of his 2020 pro-am in Adare Manor. That is 2020 as in two years’ time. However, the event will also serve as a way of publicising the redesigned course at Adare, where a fortune has reportedly been spent on renovations. Rumours put the cost of the Adare Manor facelift at an enormous €70 million, but McManus (inset) knows how to get noticed. And having one of the most famous sportsmen on the planet play a charity game around your new course is as good a way as any.
