Plans also for a shop, a café and classrooms

THE proposed Islamic Centre is planned for a 1.85-acre site with access via the existing Aldi supermarket car park. It will house seven buildings including a two-storey, 2,291sq m mosque with a 18.6m high turret, a halal shop, café, classrooms, two semi-detached houses and a community building. It will have a large grass covered amenity area and a tarmacadam roadway running through it. An area near the proposed site, zoned for ‘future development’, was where some residents had mistakenly thought the Islamic centre was planned to be built.
