Hail to the chief

-

IT WOULD appear that President Trump has achieved the impossible: he has managed to get the presidents of North and South Korea to the negotiating table.

The talks will look at jointly approving a plan that would denuclearise the Korean peninsula and ban military hostilies.

CIA director Mike Pompeo recently met with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. The result could be the end of a cold war that has lasted for six decades. Also, it has been pencilled in for President Trump to meet with the North Korea president in May or June.

The objective of this meeting will be to have a peace treaty signed by both Korean leaders.

Say what you like about President Trump but he backs up his words with decisive action. Syria being a case in point.

No doubt if President Obama had achieved this, everyone would be lauding him as a great Statesman.

They forget he dismayed even his own supporters on foreign policy. So credit where credit is due please.

John Finn, Ballincolliig, Co. Cork.
