looking at my data from December 23, 2014, i saw google recorded that i left my street in south-east london, below, at 11.31am and, tracking me via gPS, it knew that it took me seven minutes to walk to lee station. google then noted that i took the 11.39am train to Charing Cross, arriving at 11.57am. While on the train, at 11.47am, google recorded that i searched the term ‘best whisky shop in london’. And at 11.53am, the search engine kept a record of the fact that i read a review of 2014 by Charlie Brooker, right, in the guardian.

11:57 THEY KNOW WHAT YOU DRINK

google kept a note that i made the fourminute walk to the Whisky exchange in Bedford Street, Covent garden. Still tracking my movements, the tech giant recorded the fact i was in the shop browsing between 12.01pm and 12.31pm. But it also knew that at 12.17pm i searched reviews for glen garioch and glen Moray before buying a bottle of the latter, left, for my father.

12:31 THEY KNOW WHAT YOU EAT

i WAS tracked again after this, making an 11-minute walk to Pret A Manger on The Strand where i arrived at 12.42pm. i was preparing for a job interview, so at 12.46pm google kept a note of the fact that i read several articles about what to expect from the interview and testimonies of previous applicants.

12:50 THEY KNOW WHERE YOU SHOP AND WHAT YOU BUY

google registered that i then walked for eight minutes, arriving at Runners need, above, on Waterloo Bridge. it noted that i was there between 12.58pm and 1.16pm and bought some socks. google tracked me again after this on a five-minute walk, also registering that i arrived at the shop Aspinal of london in long Acre, Covent garden, right. google kept a note of the fact i was there between 1.21pm and 1.54pm.
