Euro glory in sight, but don’t let it blind you

-

HAVING reached the Champions League final, the priority for Jurgen Klopp and his players is to ensure they qualify for next season’s competition.

Of course, a win over Real Madrid in the final will do it (easier said than done) but they cannot take their eye off the ball in the Premier League.

Results against West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City have held up Liverpool’s progress in recent weeks, which is an inevitable consequence of their European success, I suppose.

But even though they have dropped points against two sides who have struggled this season, and Liverpool should lose at Chelsea today, I would still expect them to get a win, if required, at home to Brighton next Sunday.

Chelsea are still in the hunt for a top four finish but it has been a messy season defending the title for Antonio Conte and his players this season.

He has not looked happy and that is reflected in how his teams have played at times.

He is clearly unhappy with the transfer policy at Stamford Bridge, and like Jose Mourinho and Chelsea managers in the past, he will quickly be discarded, just a year after winning the Premier League.

I cannot see him being at Chelsea next season and I imagine he will be gone in the summer.
