Say no to abortion on demand, GP tells crowd

-

THOUSANDS of people attended a rally in favour of retaining the Eighth Amendment in the upcoming referendum in Dublin yesterday.

Crowds gathered at Merrion Square for the Love Both Vote No rally, the last major rally on the No side before the referendum on May 25.

Kerry GP Dr Andrew O’Regan told the crowd that the referendum was ‘not about healthcare’ and would lead to ‘unrestricted abortion on demand’.

The crowd was also addressed by Bernadette Goulding, who runs a support group for women who have had an abortion and regret their decision. She spoke about her own abortion.

Gavin Boyle, a 20-year-old student, told the crowd that he is alive today because of the Eighth Amendment.
