Viewers not so buoyed as Boyd’s big bowl is missed by very Hamm-fisted Sky
BOYD RANKIN made history yesterday by taking Ireland’s first wicket in Test cricket. But unless you were inside the Malahide cricket ground, or had a red button on your Sky remote control, you would have not seen it live. Sky Sports made a big deal of showing Ireland’s first test match and yet after just four overs, they switched to Indian Premier League action. The broadcaster may contend that they are contractually obliged to show the IPL but why not put the Test match on another one of their numerous sports channels? While Rankin was making history, viewers on another channel were treated to a repeated documentary on the life of Mia Hamm followed by motorsport Mondial. Poor show.
