Ed caught up in abortion row

- By Katie Hind

SINGER Ed Sheeran yesterday distanced himself from antiabortion campaigners after the Pro-Life movement used one of his songs without his permission. Small Bump, a hit song he wrote in 2011, was played by Pro-Life activists campaigning in Dublin just days ahead of Friday’s referendum. Just hours after performing a concert in Phoenix Park on Friday, Ed told his 19 million Instagram followers: ‘I’ve been informed that my song Small Bump is being used to promote the Pro-Life campaign and I feel it’s important to let you know that I have not given approval for this use, and it does not reflect what the song is about.’ The tune was written from the perspective of a parent waiting for the arrival of their baby – only to be left devastated when it is stillborn.
