Life begins at conception – without the Eighth Amendment the life of the unborn child will no longer be protected by the Constitution.

Once you legalise something, you normalise it. This means a Yes vote will lead to a rise of abortions in the future.

The proposals will result in a very liberal abortion regime up to 12 weeks – legislation like this has increased abortion in other countries.

If repealed, politicians will legislate for abortion. Details of how they intend to legislate have been published but these could change.

While recognising the distress of a fatal foetal abnormality, these cases are very rare and should not determine the wider law.
