HERITAGE BODY DIDN’T SUBMIT A REVIEW
An TAISCE was among the bodies asked to review plans for the Henrietta Street building but it did not submit its views to the council, say documents seen by the Irish Mail on Sunday,
In 2014 An Taisce listed 109 ‘at risk’ buildings including no. 3 Henrietta Street. It described it as ‘part of the most important groups of Georgian townhouses to survive in Ireland’.
It added: ‘The building urgently requires new uses,’ and recommended residential and educational. Mr Lumley would normally review the planning proposals for buildings at risk but he told the MoS: ‘I couldn’t, as heritage officer comment on something I had a direct shareholding in, and wouldn’t.’ When asked if the plans were reviewed by other members, a spokesman said: ‘It was reviewed by our Dublin association. There was one person there at the time it was reviewed, a separate volunteer An Taisce member.’
