Keatley hopeful for Broghie run

ADRIAN KEATLEY is excited to give The Broghie Man an opportunity in Group Three company when he lines up for the Goffs Lacken Stakes at Naas today.

The son of Cityscape returned in triumph following a 160-day break, during which he was gelded, when he won the Listed Committed Stakes at Navan last month.

Keatley reports The Broghie Man to have come on in leaps and bounds since then.

‘We’ve been very happy with the horse since Navan and he has come on a ton since that run,’ said the Kildare handler. ‘Gerald Mosse rode him on nice ground at the Curragh last week and he was delighted with him after that, so we are happy to take our chance and hopefully we’ll be there or thereabouts.

‘I’d say a lot of people thought that we caught some of the horses off-guard early in the season at Navan on heavy ground, but we really feel we have a nice horse that can go on nicer ground so we are looking forward to Sunday. We are really delighted with him.’

The Broghie Man renews rivalry with three horses who finished behind him last time. Speak In Colours was a close second and is one of three runners from Joseph O’Brien’s stable, along with True Blue Moon and Now You’re Talking.

Fleet Review and Sioux Nation, both trained by Aidan O’Brien who also runs Dali, were wellbeaten in third and fourth respectively.
