Future of key pair in doubt as Jose insists his side deserved to win

- – JACK GAUGHAN

EDEN HAZARD and Antonio Conte were celebrating last night as Chelsea claimed an eight FA Cup success by beating Manchester United – as the future of both men remains in doubt.

Hazard’s 22nd-minute penalty was enough to bring Wembley woe to his former boss Jose Mourinho, as United finish a season without a trophy for the first time in three years.

Mourinho insisted the best team had lost, claiming his keeper David de Gea hadn’t touched the ball. Conte and Hazard, meanwhile, were at the centre of wild celebrations at a sundrenched Wembley though neither would shed any light on where they will be next season.

Speculation is growing that yesterday’s win was Conte’s final match in charge while Hazard is being chased by Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain.

‘We don’t talk about next season – we talk about holiday and the World Cup,’ said the Belgain matchwinner. ‘I’m just happy for the boys, for the fans today, it’s a great feeling.’

Conte, adding the FA Cup to the Premier League he won in his first season in charge last year, said: ‘I must be honest, I don’t know [about the future],’ while Mourinho couldn’t contain his frustration. ‘I congratulate them but I don’t think they deserved.’
