SHERLOCK ‘NOT IN FAVOUR’ OF BEING CUT FROM DEBATE

-

LOVEBOTH spokeswoman Cora Sherlock has confirmed that she did not ‘pull out’ of RTÉ’s Prime Time debate in the final week of the campaign.

Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan – who chaired the debate, which saw Minister Simon Harris and Sinn Féin’s Peadar Tóibín debate alone – Ms Sherlock said the decision to withdraw her was taken by the prolife campaign and was not something she agreed with.

‘I didn’t actually pull out,’ she said, adding that the LoveBoth campaign ‘made the campaign decision. They were concerned that there was a doctor on the panel. It wasn’t something that I was in any way in favour of or involved with. I was looking forward to the debate,’ she told the RTÉ presenter.

‘I don’t think [being in the debate] would have made any difference,’ she added, ‘given the situation we are in today.’
