Late Show viewers were on tenterhooks on Friday night as they impatiently awaited the announcement of RTÉ’s exit poll. Ryan Tubridy kept the suspense building as he interviewed a woman about angels, even addressing the subject of ‘unemployed angels’, which was followed by comedian Jason Byrne, who funnily enough didn’t provoke too many laughs. It was too much for some. Comedian and author Colm O’Regan tweeted another wry observation on Saturday, noting the film RTÉ was screening yesterday evening amid the referendum coverage: ‘First the angel woman on the Late Late and now Dr No during the declaration.’
