Arrest over pub killing

A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a father of four in Cork on Friday.

Patrick O’Donnell, 36, died after being assaulted in Willie Andies pub in Mitchelsto­wn at around 11pm.

It is understood the youngest child of Mr O’Donnell – from Stag Park, Ballindang­an Road in Mitchelsto­wn – is just three months old.

Armed gardaí, and an ambulance were called to the pub following the assault, which is understood to have followed a row. Mr O’Donnell was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem.
