Praise where it’s due...

-

When a TD is called a ‘character’ it is usually a reference to a bragging knuckle-dragger. So when I say Clare Daly has character, I offer an example from my dictionary: ‘Running away was not in keeping with her character.’ Yet, Ms Daly decided not to parade her lifelong passion to repeal the Eighth Amendment when other female politicians elbowed rivals aside while claiming credit for the ‘yes’ vote. I do not agree with all of Ms Daly’s ideology, but I really enjoy her wicked sense of fun, admire her courage and don’t care if my approval makes her think again about whatever I praise.
