Bosses unite over suggestions for restructuring next season

thing I am disappointed about is that wasn’t Wexford out there. We were flat, I believe we are better than that. We were just very flat and I dread to think how we are going to be next week.’

Fitzgerald noticed how flat Offaly were against his side in Tullamore and he was concerned that they would be similar yesterday evening.

‘We put in a massive two weeks. If you look at last week, I don’t think Kilkenny were 100 per cent either because that was their third week. Offaly were flat in the warm-up when they played us and we went for their throats straight away.

‘Galway did similar today and we just happened to be the unlucky team that were playing four in a row. It’s the only thing about the system that I don’t know if it’s a true reflection because if a team gets a small breather in the middle of it, it freshens you up.’

Donoghue praised his team’s performance but accepted that it wasn’t fair on Wexford to play a team coming off a twoweek break. ‘It is very hard on some teams,’ the Galway boss pointed out.

‘From a spectators’ point of view, it is great to see game on game. That’s very exciting but I think the powers-thatbe should reflect on teams having to play four weeks in a row. Take the managers’ and players’ opinion and look at extending it so that there is an extra week for everyone next year.’

And Donoghue claimed that no Leinster team should be facing relegation, as Dublin and Offaly are this afternoon. ‘I go along with the sentiment that the Leinster championship should mirror the Munster championship and there should be no relegation for anyone.’
