Benedict shuns the boards

-

VOGUE’S new editor, Edward Enninful, recently said: ‘I’m not rich and I’m not thin.’ He might be about to lose some weight as his supermodel best friend Naomi Campbell has been getting him into shape by fighting him in a boxing ring. Sources say Naomi and Edward have been doing extreme sessions. Fiery Naomi says boxing relieves stress and aggression. HIS army of fans will be so disappointed! I can reveal that Benedict Cumberbatch wants to swap treading the boards for directing so he can spend more time with his family. The Patrick Melrose star says that getting behind the camera involves fewer hours than acting and the swap would allow him to enjoy more time at his London home with playwright wife Sophie Hunter, pictured with Benedict, and their brood. Cumberbatch, 41, says he wants to be a more ‘present’ and ‘involving’ dad to his two children, both under three. EMILY CLARKSON, the author daughter of Jeremy, got strange looks last week after she shoved a clove of garlic in her ear, above, to treat an ear infection. Garlic has antibacterial properties but the idea that you can cure an infection this way is probably an old wives’ tale. Doctors say you’d have to poke a clove dangerously far down the ear canal to have any chance of an effect. But Emily, 23, won’t listen… or can’t.
