Clodagh’s boyfriend? He’s a man of pedigree

The Irish Mail on Sunday - - OUT AND ABOUT -

SHE has been at the helm of hit TV cookery shows, but celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna doesn’t own a TV set – which is a pity, as watching Downton Abbey would give her an insight into the workings at her new boyfriend’s ancestral home.

Clodagh, 43, was in Dublin this week as she helped launch Greene Farm’s Take Back Lunch initiative, urging people to resist the urge to eat ‘al desko’ in the office.

It sounds like evenings chez Clodagh are busy.

‘I think so many people chat away about TV series,’ she said this week. ‘I love theatre and I love film, so I go to the cinema and I go to the theatre to get my fix of entertainment. Mostly it’s because of people coming over. I love having people over, even if it’s just a big pot of something in the middle of the table.’

London-based Clodagh also spoke about her new man. ‘I’m really happy and it’s lovely,’ she said. Clodagh is dating Henry ‘Harry’ Herbert, whose brother George owns Highclere Castle, inset, where DowntonAbbey was filmed. Harry’s late father, the 7th Earl of Carnarvon, was Queen Elizabeth’s racing manager. Harry is himself a race horse owner, and last weekend he and Clodagh attended the Epsom Derby.
