SWITZERLAND
Ranking 6. Last time Last 16. Manager Vladimir Petkovic — the Bosnian has played for and taken charge of a number of teams in the country. Lazio manager for two years but sacked after it emerged he was to replace Ottmar Hitzfeld as Swiss boss in 2014. Agonisingly knocked out of Euro 2016 by Poland on penalties at the last-16 stage. They’re a bit like Newcastle — a shortage of goals could be an issue. Key man Xherdan Shaqiri (right) — he may not have been able to prevent Stoke City’s relegation but Shaqiri remains the main man for Switzerland. His passing ability, potency from set-pieces and eye for the spectacular strike make him the stardust within a pretty limited team.
Rising star Denis Zakaria — the Borussia Moenchengladbach defensive midfielder is strong, powerful and committed in the challenge. Valon Behrami is likely to be favoured ahead of him, but Zakaria is a decent alternative.
Prospects Have a good chance of finishing second to Brazil. But another last-16 exit looks likely.
